Privacy policy
In short
- Your places, scans and tagged spots are stored on your iPhone. iseeido has no accounts and no servers of its own, so we never receive them.
- For street directions, the app sends Google your location as you travel, the door you’re heading for, how you’re travelling, and your language and units.
- Google’s map component also collects data of its own, including a device identifier.
- There are no ads, no tracking and no analytics of our own.
What stays on your iPhone
iseeido keeps the following in its own storage on your iPhone:
- The places you scan or import: their 3D maps and floor plans, a snapshot of each room, the spots you tag, the names you give them, and a rough location recorded while scanning.
- Where each place sits on the map: its position, which way it faces, and its doors.
- History: the places you’ve visited and the paths you walked inside them, recorded in each place’s own map rather than as positions on Earth. History is on unless you turn it off, and keeps up to 180 days.
- “Remember what I’ve seen”, if you turn it on: the text of what you asked about the camera view and the answers, never images. It’s off unless you turn it on.
- A log of the app’s current and previous sessions, which can include what you said to the voice button and the names of your places. It stays on your iPhone unless you share it.
- Your settings.
Like other app data, everything except “Remember what I’ve seen” is part of your iPhone’s own backups to iCloud or to a computer, if you make them.
The camera and your voice
- Camera. iseeido uses the camera and LiDAR scanner to scan places and to recognise where you are inside one. That work happens on your iPhone, and camera images are not uploaded. The only images kept are the room snapshots in your places. An image leaves your iPhone only if you share one yourself.
- Voice. When you use the voice button, your speech is turned into text on your iPhone. iseeido won’t listen at all if your iPhone can’t do that on the device. Audio is never saved.
- Asking what the camera sees. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence and iOS 27 or later, you can ask what’s in front of you. This uses Apple’s on-device model, not a server. You can turn it off in iseeido’s Settings.
What leaves your iPhone
Street directions from Google
The app asks Google’s Routes API for a route when you start a journey or change how you’re travelling, and again as you move along it, at most once every 60 metres and 20 seconds. Each request contains:
- your precise current location;
- the location of the door you’re heading for, or the place’s own position if no door is marked;
- how you’re travelling: walking, driving, cycling or public transport;
- your preferred language and units.
Google uses these to calculate the route. Like any request over the internet, it also reaches Google with your IP address.
Maps from Google
Street and satellite maps come from the Google Maps SDK for iOS, which downloads map images for the area on screen. Once you have a place on the map, the Go tab shows Google’s map of your places and where you are. While you line a place up, Google provides satellite images of its surroundings.
Google’s own declaration for the SDK says it collects a device identifier and other data that are linked to you, along with crash data, performance data and data about how you use the map, and uses them for analytics. See Google’s privacy policy.
Apple
- If you set a place’s location by hand from inside a building, the picker uses Apple Maps, which downloads map images of the area shown.
- If you use Siri or Shortcuts with iseeido, the names of your places and tagged spots are made available to them.
- iseeido may ask you to rate it, using Apple’s standard App Store prompt.
Files you share
A place leaves your iPhone only if you send it yourself, for example with Share or Save to Files. What a file contains depends on its kind:
- a place file (.spacemap) includes the place’s 3D map, its room snapshot, its tagged spots and its rough location;
- an alignment file (.snav-geo) includes the place’s name and precise position on Earth;
- an exported 3D model includes the shape of the place and its tagged spots, but no position on Earth.
Permissions
- Location, only while you’re using the app: to route you, and to know when you’ve reached the door. It’s never used in the background.
- Camera: to scan places and to recognise where you are inside one.
- Microphone and speech recognition: when you use the voice button.
- Motion: the barometer, to notice when you change floors in a building with several floors.
You can change any of these in the iPhone Settings app.
Deleting your data
- Delete a place from the Maps tab. It waits in Recently Deleted for 7 days, and you can remove it from there sooner.
- In this beta, a place deleted for good can leave its position on the map stored in the app until you delete the app. An upcoming update erases it along with the place.
- History keeps the names of places you’ve visited, including deleted ones, until you clear it.
- History, “Remember what I’ve seen” and the log can each be cleared in the app.
- Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your iPhone. Copies in your backups follow your backup settings.
